Pirates Ready for Playoffs
Well the season hasn't gone exactly to form as
the Prescott Pirate baseball club struggled with consistency most of
the year. Strange as it sounds, even Pirate mascot was in a
slump and he is ficticious. The Pirates now head to Haugen, WI to
begin the WBA state playoff tournament where they face off against
Sparta, WI. The Millers, know for their drinking prowess, come
into the bracket as the No. 1 seed after winning the Mississippi
Valley Conference with a record of 10-2. The Pirates
finished up 10-6 and a share of the Southern Division title. For
the Pirates to advance to the second round they must throw strikes,
play defense and hit with runners in scoring position. Now this
isn't some magic potion as every team in the tournament will need to
posses, but it is paramount for the local nine to keep it simple and
make the plays that are routine. If they do so, this will be a
dog fight to the end as the Pirate's come in with a lot of veteran
leadership and state berth streak on the line. Oh, and it will
be nice to have the full squad playing together, third time all
season. |
