That is all the editor can say is the Pirates lost to Ellsworth, kind of like kissing your sister. This means nothing towards the Hubbers, but the Pirates don't like to lose to their rival.

Tousley Tosses Gem as Pirates Beat Hudson 5/16
Chad Tousley pitched an impressive 8 shutout innings to lead the way for the Pirates as they move to 2-0 in the SCVL standings. Tousley got early support from the Pirate offense as they strung together three consecutive base hits by Buck Hendrickson, Brent Pattridge and Brady Randolph to open the game, and Nick Thoen's 2-run double gave the Pirates an early lead. A couple more runs crossed the plate on two fielders choices and the Pirates were off to a 4-0 lead.
Tousley scattered a couple of hits and kept the River Rats off balance all day. A couple of key double plays helped Tousley escape a couple of early inning jitters and keep the shutout in tact. Overall, the Pirates played very good defense except for one blunder in the outfield that didn't hurt Tousley.
Randolph led the Pirates in hitting as he went 3-4 with two doubles and Pattridge had two hits to help Prescott's offense plate 5 runs. The Pirates haven't hit their stride hitting yet but look to break out this weekend with two games this weekend.

Pirates Win Season Opener 5/9
The Prescott Pirates came back from behind to beat the Bay City Bombers with a run in the bottom of the 9th on an error by the leftfielder that scored Brady Randolph. The Bombers got out to a 1-0 lead on a throwing error by Kevin McDermott that killed Joey two full yards away from Firehall Field. That error plated a bomber that was on second and allowed the batter to move to second, but starter Matt Monteith was able to pitch out of the inning only giving up one. Monteith pitched five solid innings keeping the Pirates in the game and gave way to Luke Hoff who made his 1st Pirate appearance. Hoff, originally from Haugen, WI, played college baseball with many of the current Pirates at Viterbo College and will be a great addition to the pitching staff.
In the 7th, Hoff pitched out of a bases loaded, 0 out situation that gave the Pirates some life. In the bottom half of the inning, they finally scored their first run of the season on a single by Jason Bayer that plated Nick Thoen, and the Pirates had moment for the 1st time in the ball game. In the bottom of the ninth, Randolph led off the inning with a single, stole 2nd, was sacrificed to 3rd by Thoen and Cullen McDermott hit a short fly ball to left that was dropped and scored Randolph.
Of course, the Bay City-Prescott game just wouldn't be a real Bay City-Prescott game without some comments from the fans of Bay City. Who knows where these guys are from, but they sure know how to drink and act rowdy at the games. Line of the day is from Brian Brieske who said "Go grab another Cigarette" after a Bay City fan told Charlie Babcock to go grab some bench.
